The Voting Procedure on the UPS Contract Explained

The balloting materials are tentatively scheduled to be mailed to all UPS Teamsters between September 11 and September 14. The count will be on October 5th.

Each member’s packet will contain a unique, private access code that you will use to vote. You can vote on line, or by phone to a computer. The packet will also contain a sample ballot that will match what you will see on line, and instructions for how to vote on line, or by phone.

Each member will be able to cast two votes: one vote on the all-important National Master Contract, and one vote on your regional or local supplement. Some members will be able to cast a third vote, on a local rider. Your ballot will be keyed to your specific supplement and rider.

The packet will contain all the changes in the national master and supplement that you will be voting on. And it will contain a sales pitch prepared by the PR firm hired by the Hoffa administration.

The ballot period will be at least 21 days. If, after 7 days, you have not received a ballot packet, you will be able to request that a new access code be mailed to you. Requests must be made to your local union. Your local will then enter the change online.

The ballots will be processed and counted by BallotPoint and your vote will be secret. TDU will designate observers to help monitor the process.

It is absolutely essential that concerned Teamsters cast a vote, and also encourage co-workers to vote. Show them how with your smartphone, talk it up, bring a copy of the sample ballot to work, distribute Vote No leaflets, and build that No Vote!
